800 accounts and pages publishing political messages for own profit removed by Facebook

Facebook has removed over 800 accounts and pages from their community as they were trying to spam the policies by sending spam political awareness messages and posts.

‘‘Today, we’re removing 559 Pages and 251 accounts that have consistently broken our rules against spam and coordinated inauthentic behavior. People will only share on Facebook if they feel safe and trust the connections they make here” Facebook said in a blog post.

Many accounts and pages were brought in attention with fake posts and organizations to endorse President Donald Trump. There were many ads too where the Russians were seeking and gaining votes under fake organization names with a million followers and likes.

Facebook also published that they weren’t removing the people associated with the wrong ventures but it was only the spammed ones that were being removed.

The Facebook team has been under a lot of pressure since the 2016 presidential elections that took place in the United States where the Russians had targeted American voters. It was very important for any type of disrupted content to be found during the democratic process.

On Trump’s approach to China that was found in recent posts and photos which got too much criticism from journalists for failing, shared a link to a story that had called Representative Maxine Waters ‘‘demented.’’ The page had also shared a website called ‘‘America’s Freedom Fighters,’’ where they would post its own content and duplicate press releases written by others about violent crimes and gun rights.

There was another page named Reverb Press, they had over 700,000+ followers. Their post included attacking President Trump over the Internet and referring them to Republicans as ‘‘cheating scumbags.’’

A third left-leaning page, Reasonable People Unite, posted a screenshot from a Twitter user who said, ‘‘Somewhere in America, a teenage girl is listening to her parents defend Brett Kavanaugh and she is thinking to herself, if something like that happens to me, I have nowhere to go.’’
